How I work: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Practical, Positive Change
A counselling approach focused on understanding your thoughts, emotions, and patterns so you can move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a powerful form of counselling because it is practical, evidence-based, and focused on positive change.
CBT is built on the idea that it’s not just what happens to us that causes distress, but how we think about and respond to those experiences. By gently exploring and reshaping unhelpful thoughts and patterns, CBT can help reduce anxiety, low mood, stress, and other challenges while building confidence and resilience.
What makes CBT effective
CBT works well because it is:
Collaborative – we work alongside one another
Clear and organised – so you know what we are working on
Focused on real-life change that matters to you
Designed to challenge unhelpful thoughts and patterns
Proven to be effective for a wide range of challenges
I believe that you already hold many of the answers within you. My role is to offer a safe and supportive space where those answers can emerge, be explored, and be put into action.
Supporting Growth, Clarity & Lasting Chang
While CBT forms the cornerstone of my practice due to its proven effectiveness, I also integrate other therapeutic approaches to support each client’s unique needs. Other models which I integrate into my practice is strengths based and solutions-focused approaches as well has Te Tiriti informed practices such as Pōwhiri Poutama and Te Whare Tapa Whā.
I am passionate about providing counselling that is empowering, authentic, and genuinely useful. I work with clients to help them develop greater self-understanding and resilience in order to help make long lasting change. I have experience working with people navigating a range of challenges, including anxiety, stress, depression, grief, self-esteem difficulties, mental health and addiction concerns, and supporting at-risk youth.
